About Us!
Memorial Community Church was formed over ten years ago – in January 2006 – when the congregation of Memorial Baptist Church, Plaistow, welcomed the congregation from neighbouring St Andrew’s church, who had to move out of rented premises, to work and worship together with them in their building.
The congregation reflects its location in Newham – London’s youngest and most multicultural borough. The church is involved in the local community through many associated and spin-off projects such as Bridges (support for homelessness and a weekly all-comers’ breakfast), Survivors Together (support for those who have been sexually abused), and the Swift Centre (youth project). We also host a number of faith and community groups on our small campus such as Faith in Schools, ‘Our Community Cares’ and Plaistow South Big Local – along with nearly half a dozen other worshipping communities.
We are a church that values everyone, especially those who don’t easily find a welcome elsewhere. And we are working to reflect that in the way we use the buildings that have been entrusted to us.
